About
Oceans and Communities, founded in 2007, works with coastal communities and environmental organizations to defend the oceans and the rights of coastal peoples from large-scale industrial threats, such as deep sea mining and industrial fishing.
Some of our focus areas include:
- Challenging Large-Scale Industrial Development:
Address key and emerging issues such as industrial fishing, deep sea mining, port projects, and open ocean aquaculture
- Supporting Coastal Peoples:
Help develop and strengthen local coastal people’s campaigns through financial, technical, legal, and public relations assistance
- Building a Network of Coastal Peoples:
Unite coastal communities to share information, build organizational capacity, and bring key issues of common concern to international arenas
